13-Point Program

The Diaspora Pa’lante Collective launched our 13-Point Program on February 17, 2025 as a strategic next step in our organizing. This day commemorated the birthday of Blanca Canales and also the anniversary of the assassination of Huey P. Newton.

“In our daily commitment to serve our people and contribute positively to the transformation of our world, we look to our elders and contemporaries: the Young Lords, the Black Panther Party, the Red Nation, the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, the Islamic Resistance Movement in Gaza. In their examples, we find clear and bold visions of a future liberated from the interlocking systems of capitalism, imperialism, colonialism, and patriarchy; roadmaps for the growth and consolidation of power in the hands of the people.

We honor the dialectical nature of revolution by not only pursuing the total defeat of our enemies, but also by unleashing our creativity toward the positive construction of a newborn world rooted in mutual care, people(s)-centered human rights, and the emancipation of all oppressed and colonized peoples. Our 13-point program reflects our commitment to investigating the problems facing our people, and engaging in a collaborative process with our members, supporters, and comrades across the diaspora and archipelago to envision an alternative.

Amilcar Cabral reminds us:

The people are not fighting for ideas, for the things in anyone’s head. They are fighting to win material benefits, to live better and in peace, to see their lives go forward, to guarantee the future of their children…

We embrace our historic responsibility to put our vision into action with our own hands, and we humbly ask you to engage with this program. Share, critique, and implement. Join us and commit to building a revolutionary alternative in our lifetime.

*This document speaks directly from our position as a diasporic people living outside of the archipelago. The specific nature and trajectory of social, political, and economic transformation in Borikén must be developed organically by our people on the islands. We reject the confused, paternalistic mindset which suggests that we in the diaspora can determine the character, direction, and terms of struggle for those living in the colony.

We have attempted to carefully walk this line by highlighting some of the core crises facing Puerto Ricans in the archipelago (e.g., colonial status; privatization of the electrical grid; violence against women; gentrification and displacement, etc.) and calling for broad, collective, and self-determined action to guide our people forward.”

US/NATO Out of Our Americas launch

On February 21st, 2025, the DPC alongside organizations across the Americas launched the US/NATO Out of our Americas Network. The 21st was the date of the assassination of both Malcolm X and Augusto C. Sandino, a reminder that our struggles against US imperialism are forever intertwined. The network is dedicated to building a coordinated, internationalist struggle to expel the US/EU/NATO Axis of Domination from the Americas and beyond.

Together we will organize grassroots campaigns to resist military bases and interventions, build solidarity with, expose and oppose the imperialist web, and create a society that we deserve together. We call on individuals and organizations alike to join the campaign. Stay tuned for our first orientation and next steps!

Impact of SOUTHCOM in Puerto Rico and the Broader Caribbean

Alongside the launch of the US/NATO Out of Our Americas Campaign, it is important to understand the role that the US Southern Command plays in upholding the 200 year Monroe Doctrine across Latin America and the Caribbean.

US Southern Command manages bases and other US military resources (including defense of the Panama Canal), coordinates trainings and exercises with regional armed forces, and uses a variety of hard and soft power tools to defend US power throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

As a colony of the United States, Puerto Rico’s lands and waters are used as a training and staging ground for war against our sisters and brothers across the Americas and the world. We must oppose US militarism and make clear our demand that a free and independent Puerto Rico be respected as a Zone of Peace.

Diaspora Pa’lante Collective Kicks Off in Florida!

On Saturday, 03/01/2025, Diaspora Pa’lante Collective hosted its first event in Miami, Florida, with our new Florida Chapter members! Teaming up with the Black Men Build Miami Chapter, we gathered at The Freedom Lab for a powerful screening of Simulacros de Liberación (Drills of Liberation), an epic documentary directed by Juan C. Dávila.

The film captures the resilience and determination of young Puerto Ricans fighting for liberation amidst U.S.-imposed colonial measures. The screening sparked deep reflection, meaningful conversations, and a strong sense of community among Boricuas and allies in South Florida. This event was just the beginning—stay tuned for more from our Florida Chapter!

Parallel Paths to Liberation: Palestine & Puerto Rico

On Saturday, 03/08/2025, Diaspora Pa’lante Collective hosted a teach-in at The People’s Forum to discuss the history and current conditions of both Palestine and Puerto Rico and how our two nations liberation struggles are intertwined.

We raised over $600 that will be going toward the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), an organization delivering critical aid in Gaza. The New York City/New Jersey chapter will be hosting another Parallel Paths to Liberation teach-in in Staten Island on May 9th from 6-8 pm at 4 Minthorne St. Register for the event here!

From DC to Puerto Rico: Gentrification is Displacing Us

In January, the DC, Maryland, and Virginia Chapter of the Diaspora Pa’lante Collective launched a series of town halls to discuss the topic of gentrification. This comes at a crucial moment where it is almost impossible to find affordable housing as a result of the increased “luxury” development that is pushing the population out and bringing a new population in.

We were able to collectively learn and discuss the realities of gentrification and its implications both in DC and in Puerto Rico and create solutions to the housing crisis that is caused by the capitalist system that seeks to make money off of housing, something that should be guaranteed to every human. Stay tuned for more town halls to come in the future so that we can think through pressing issues together and connect what is happening locally, to what is happening globally. We want to thank the Woodner Tenants Union and RAIS for participating in our second town hall panel to give the people tools that they can use to develop a tenants union and how we can truly fight back!

Take Action!

Esencia is the newest colonial project that seeks to displace the native people of Puerto Rico and destroy the land. Over 2,000 acres of land will be stolen to create a private city for elites coming from the US. We stand firm against Esencia! More information can be found here. Stay tuned for updates on how to take action.

Praise our resistance

Borikua Pride.

-Bandera; Banderita!

You can tell how

Freedom songs

Shaped our faith

We so grateful for;

Partisan      dual-citizenship

Still not treated as

Americans;

They claim us to be.

Praise be!

Open sea      sun-people.

Here the open sky

Reminds me

How bright

Our perceived freedom be

How it’s necessary

To breath in

Even when you know

Air is polluted

How a dream

In any language

About United States

Is embellished!

Our dream:

Is nationalist sentiment

Our pride:

Free Boriken Nation!

No settlement.

Ohhh      you!

Most treacherous

All powerful     E.L.A

Tan carcinogen

To collective lung

Curse in our native tongue!

Reason why multiple generations

Ain’t been able to

Breath easy.

Freedom ain’t free

How we put equal parts

Soul and sazón in everything!

Savor every social gathering

As if it was our last!

Praise be;

Diaspora!

Home away from home,

Los Nuyores,

Spanish-Harlem

Los Sures,

Loisaida,

¿Y la Parada Puertorriqueña?

¡Oye,     Yo!

The parades honoring vende patrias?

Bro!

!Que Jodienda¡

How here      the one day we

honor us

Don’t represent us!

¡Mira!

Know that we proud to be

Puerto Rican:

knowing we really Borikua:

With a “K” Papa!

¡De aquí, pero de allá!

Before you talk smack

About me not knowing Spanish,

know it’s a colonizer’s tongue!

We praise our arrival flight

To the island,

Not our departure.

I live free

Of colonized dreams

Regardless of where

You may find me

I’m reminded

here

That revolution is

How we speak our pride.
